This report indicates that the second quarter of 2008 has been profitable despite lower revenue figures.

  • Q2’s Revenue vs. SQLY (Same Quarter Last Year) Index is in negative territory for the second time since Q2 2003.
  • The Agency segment posted higher Revenue and Profitability indices than Marketers or Suppliers.
  • Projected Revenue remains positive with an overall index of 52. Agencies and Suppliers forecast growth in Q3 2008, while Marketers expect a small decrease in their revenue.*

The DMA's Quarterly Business Review (QBR) allows direct marketers, agencies, and suppliers to benchmark their performance on such key metrics as current and projected revenue, profits, ROI, sales, employment, and a wide range of expenditure areas.

Marketer data is regularly broken out for Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumer, and Catalog Marketer segments.

Quarter 2's Revenue vs. SQLY (Same Quarter Last Year) Index of 47 is the second time since Q2 2003 that this index has been in the negative territory. Q2 2008 findings indicate growth in Profitability, with an index of 63 that matches the Q1 index.

In the QBR index, a score of 50 represents no change in performance. Scores above 50 represent growth, and those below 50 represent a decline.
